What’s the Rush?

I digress. First I must tell you about the dim sum! No, that has nothing to do with the photo. The place in the photo came later. I wanted some good dim sum, so I subjected Manny to that particular whim of mine. It was ridiculously good (a category of goodness that I had to explain to our server so that she didn’t think I was calling the restaurant silly). The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, restaurant vocabulary is my weakest point in the Chinese language. Maybe when I get back from Shanghai I’ll be able to go through the whole experience without using English, but today I relied upon it heavily.

Oh, have I not mentioned Shanghai? I’ll tell you more about it at another time. I’m in the middle of a different story right now. What’s the rush? (No, that’s actually not where the title comes from. It was just a serendipitous opportunity to use it, so I did.)

After the dim sum goodness, Manny introduced me to the Dandelion Communitea Cafe, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and teahouse in Orlando. That is the place in the picture above. I probably wouldn’t have thought to go on flickr and look for a photo of it except that while we were in there chilling on the bright yellow couch, a local photographer came in to try out his brand new lens. I should have asked for a copy of the shot he took, but I wasn’t that concerned about it.

While we were there, however, Manny brought up an excellent point: “What’s the rush?”

If we look at the grand scheme of things, stuff has a tendency to happen according to its own time-table. As we discussed things we both acknowledged that by attempting to make things happen before their time, one risks them not happening at all. I know I’ve been there. “But, I want it now!” almost always backfires.

heh… “God grant me patience… and I want it right now. “

What’s up with the no blogginess??? I figured I would get to read about all the researchy cool stuff you are doing.

Ironically, it’s the research that is keeping me away. I’m currently working my way through 16 pounds of research. That’s actually not an exaggeration. I just weighed my stack of books and articles, and it weighs 16 pounds! And that doesn’t count the 106 pages (double-sided) that I need to print as soon as I get to school.

Maybe if you weren’t spending your time weighing your research literally and did it more figuratively it would be a faster process??? I mean I could be wrong, but it seems logical to me. :)

Oh, if we discuss its figurative weight, we’d be here all day. I will say, though, that my favorite figurative unit of weight, the metric ton, would be much more appropriate than pounds here. :)

Now, I’ve gotta go get more tea and finish the paragraph I’m writing. The Dandelion rocks!!

Discussing a metric ton of research sounds like fun, but only if I know what it is about….I mean I know you are doing research for your class, but I think it might be helpful if the team waded through some of the research together. I agree if we do that it will take all day and probably many days, but that’s okay. I started reading the book and I like it, I’m a little distracted currently, but I will try to finish it before I get back.

Oh, and I want to see this Dandelion place….it’s green and sounds fun:)

I still have all of the materials, and there are a few things that I ‘m going to want to share with the team, for sure. You can wade through all of it , if you like. I only made it through that volume of work in the time I did because I fell into hyperfocus. That’s one of those benefits of ADD. :)

There was actually a poster session at the conference on teachers with ADD/ADHD…. I smiled when I saw it…. then saw something shiney!

Picture Matt, after needing to excuse himself from the computer to finish laughing, sitting here typing this reply and pausing every so often to wipe his eyes again, and you’ll have a much better mental image than “LOL,” “ROFL,” or “LMAO” could ever convey. That was downright… ooh! Kitty!

Thank you, because that image is priceless, and as you said, the text desciptors do not do it justice….. Well I must get back to
